Age: 42 Kamojima is Ryuuji's main associate and bodyguard, and has been by Ryuuji's side ever since the latter was a child. He is older than Shibuya and has served Ryuuji's father, Tatsuya, as well, having entered the world of the gokudo at 18. His gentle, smiling face has been referred to as "the face of a Buddha", although he is scary when he becomes serious. Out of all the Kuryugumi members, Kamojima is the one who knows Ryuuji the best and can guess his moods even through his poker face. He is constantly cheering for Tsukasa and Ryuuji get together, thinking that Tsukasa would make an excellent seisai. Tsukasa calls him "Kamo-san", which humorously translates to "duck". At 28, Kamojima wanted to leave the gokudo world to focus on his new family, but his fiancée Yui (who was also carrying their unborn child) was assaulted and murdered by the Hanawagumi group, whose sadistic kumicho took great pleasure in selling snuff films of himself torturing and raping women. However, Hanawa was killed by others before Kamojima could get revenge, leaving Kamojima in despair and close to ending his own life. At that point, Tatsuya came to ask Kamojima for help in looking after his infant son, whose mother had recently passed away in childbirth, and whom Tatsuya planned to name Ryuuji — the name Kamojima would've given his own son. Thus, Kamojima and Ryuuji regard each other as father and son, with a bond deeper than blood or duty. Kamojima is killed while protecting Ryuuji from one of the technologically enhanced humans created by Garyukai, and his death marks the only moment in the story when Ryuuji allows himself to cry, in front of only Tsukasa.
